A mosquito carrying heartworm larva can infect your dog with worms that develop and reproduce inside him. Treatment for heartworm disease can be long and costly. Product Information
Tri-Heart chewable tablets are indicated for use in prevention of canine heartworm and for the treatment and control of roundworm and hookworms in dogs and in puppies six weeks of age and older. This product is made by Merck Animal Health.
Active Ingredients
Ivermectin, Pyrantel. Artificial beef flavoring, derived from Pork.
Some preventatives require a veterinary visit
Your dog must have an annual heartworm test at TCAP to be prescribed this medication.

Directions for User
The usual dose is once monthly.
Special Precautions
All dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection before starting treatment with Tri-Heart chewable tablets. A mild hypersensitivity-type reaction, presumably due to dead or dying microfilariae and particularly involving a transient diarrhea has been observed in clinical trials with ivermectin alone after treatment of some dogs that have circulating microfilariae. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. In case of ingestion by humans, clients should be advised to contact a physician immediately. Physicians may contact a Poison Control Center for advice concerning cases of ingestion by humans.
